iHerb Recalls California Gold Nutrition Iron Supplements Due to Child Poisoning Risk

iHerb has initiated a recall of approximately 60,000 units of its California Gold Nutrition iron supplements due to concerns about potential child poisoning. The issue stems from the lack of child-resistant packaging, a safety requirement mandated by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act for products containing iron.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted the recall notice on June 26, highlighting that the affected daily prenatal and women's multivitamins did not meet the necessary safety standards for iron-containing supplements. An iHerb spokesperson confirmed on June 30 that no deaths have been reported in connection with this recall.

Which Products Are Included?

The recall impacts several specific California Gold Nutrition products:

  • Daily Prenatal Multivitamin: Packaged in white bottles with white lids and a gold border label. Each bottle contains 60 fish gelatin softgels.
  • Women's Multivitamin and Women's 50+ Multivitamin: These products come in dark purple packaging with a gold border label, containing 60 capsules in blister foils.

These recalled supplements were sold online through various retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Target, as well as other websites. The sale period spanned from January 2019 to April 2025, with prices ranging from $8 to $18.
